We encourage junior members (under 18 years of age) to take up the hobby, and also welcome beginners of all ages tuition is freely available for novice flyers and new members.
Although we are few in numbers the aircraft flown by our club members cover a wide variety from helicopters to jets and gliders to the most detailed scale model
Merryfield Airfield
We fly at a fantastic airfield within a few miles of Ilminster named Merryfield we are also lucky enough to fly alongside the navy model flying club that also operates from the base this makes things interesting as there are a greater variety of models flying.
Merryfield is a satellite airfield to the west of yeovilton although no aircraft are based here the field is still an active MOD airbase and its primary use is for helicopter pilot training this is in order to reduce the volume of traffic at an already congested yeovilton being an active airfield means we can only fly at the weekends and in the evenings after 5pm and during navy shutdowns.
